ISTEK Preschools and Primary Schools implement IB Primary Years Programme, integrated with the curriculum that is stipulated by the Turkish Ministry of Education. IB PYP provides a sound framework through which ISTEK Schools fulfill the qualities of education that are stated in their mission and vision. Through intense professional training for teachers and rigorous planning, it is ensured that all the requirements of the national curriculum are met while the properties of IB PYP’s “learner profile” is inculcated in the students.

What Is the Internatıonal Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme?

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a curriculum framework for young learners aged 3–12 designed by the International Baccalaureate (IB). Founded on a philosophy that recognizes a child’s natural curiosity, creativity and ability to reflect, the PYP generates a stimulating, challenging learning environment to nurture those assets and foster a lifelong love of learning in every child. The PYP is transdisciplinary, meaning students learn across subject areas while investigating big ideas.

To meet the diverse needs of the student—physical, social, intellectual, aesthetic, cultural—PYP schools ensure that the learning is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant. What adds significance to student learning in the PYP is its commitment to a transdisciplinary model, whereby themes of global significance that transcend the confines of the traditional subject areas frame the learning throughout the preschool and primary school. These themes promote an awareness of the human condition and an understanding that there is a commonality of human experience.
